Set in a huge redundant steelworks, Magna is an interactive science learning centre and a monument to a way of life. Four pavillions explore the four Aristotelian elements – Earth, Air, Fire and Water – and the ways in which man has harnessed them. There is a continuous hands-on emphasis: visitors touch and feel rock formations in Earth, play with air jets in Air and are splashed and sprinkled with raindrops in Water. Live ‘hot-metal’ demonstrations in Fire raise the ambient temperature, delivering genuine multi-sensory involvement.
