Event designed Power Within, the first of the Earth Science Galleries, with the aim of involving visitors in the unseen processes of the inner earth. Great use is made of the museum's extensive collections so that the public could see and, whenever possible, handle geological specimens. Geology is presented as a living science that has vital things to say about the way we use the Earth and its resources. Since the opening of the Earth Galleries visitors have rated them as second only to the dinosaurs in enjoyment and stimulation.
