THEA Award for Titanic Belfast
April 7, 2014
Titanic Belfast was among the museums, gardens and theme parks honoured with an outstanding achievement award at the Themed Entertainment Association (TEA) Annual Gala on Saturday. Event is delighted that Titanic Belfast has been recognised by the TEA. With their international panel of judges and worldwide scope, the Thea Awards are a truly global accolade.
Other outstanding achievement award winners include Singapore’s Gardens by the Bay; The Mind Museum in Taguig City, Philippines; Disneyland and Disney World USA, Hong Kong Disneyland and Les Machines de L’Ile in Nantes, France. The broad range of attractions considered makes for a fascinating competition, with innovation and visitor enjoyment the heart of the judging criteria.
Titanic Belfast was commended for its combination of ‘beautiful execution, attention to detail, sense of place and time, visual impact, story-telling techniques and community significance’. Judges also noted its place at centre of Europe’s largest regeneration project. They highlighted how quickly Titanic Belfast exceeded all annual targets: retail revenue for the year was met after 123 days, while visitors numbers for the year were met after only 164 days!
