A Canterbury Tale
The Beckett Chasse on loan from the Victoria & Albert Museum and Beckett’s robe, from the Basilica of Santa Maria Maggiore in Rome, helped illuminate the story of his life, death and enduring influence.
Impressive displays of pilgrim badges drawn from museums and private collections across Britain connected visitors to the thousands of medieval pilgrims who visited Becket’s shrine.
The proportions and scale of the displays were developed with reference to the historic architecture. Contemporary interventions were designed to enhance harmony and clarity.
