Stories From the Sea

Strandingsmuseum St George

Strandingsmuseum is situated on one of the most dangerous stretches of coastline in Europe. Since 1800, more than 1200 ships have wrecked off this coast, bringing the history of the world to this place.

Appointed to work with the Museum on its expansion and redesign, Event adopted the overarching theme of Stories From the Sea to consider the extraordinary cultural meetings that arose because of the wrecks, as well as interpreting the remarkable collection that the sea has, literally, brought to its door.

The message of the Museum is introduced in an entrance installation, consisting of bottles with messages inside, inspired by the Museum’s unique collection of historical messages. At the end of their visit, people are invited to add their own message to a bottle and continue the cultural exchange.
